Digital Photography Tip Number 24....Buy A Camera With Image Stabilizer

Tip #24) Buy A Camera With Image Stabilizer.... Image stabilizer, vibration reduction, optical stabilizer, whatever you call it, it is awesome to have in a camera or lens. It really makes a difference when you are taking hand held photos, with a slow shutter speed.

I wish I would have had it a few years ago while flying out of Vegas. While in the plane, I had a perfect view of the Vegas strip, and the window wasn't totally dirty, so I took a bunch of photos, but because it was dark and I didn't have image stabilizer or a fast shutter speed, the photos were too blurry to be any good. The lighting looked so awesome, but they were blurry so I couldn't do anything with them. Ahhh.....!!! With a camera or lens with image stabilizer, I'm sure I could have gotten some great photos, next time I will get them. You can see two of the photos below. one is almost clear, but not really and the second is really blurry, so both are not good enough to print.

Digital photography tip number 24, Buy A Camera With Image Stabilizer. This photo was taken while flying out of Vegas. It is almost clear, but not really so it's not worth printing. The camera settings for this photo were shutter speed 1/15th sec, aperture F4.5, and ISO was 1600, at 50mm. I wish I had my 50mm lens with an aperture of F1.4 or had the ISO higher, but then the digital noise might have been too bad. If I had image stabilizer I think the photo would have been clear. Some image stabilizers are built into the camera, like all the point-and-shoot, and some digital SLR cameras like Sony, but others like Canon and Nikon have the image stabilizer built into the lenses, for their SLR's. I have seen some reviews that say the image stabilizer that is built into the lens is slightly better than the stabilizer built into the camera. The thing I like about it built into the camera is that all the lenses will benefit from it, where as with Canon and Nikon, you have to buy specific NEW lenses that have it built in.
